Moving Experiences 2

We did it.

We are now living in our new home, and discovering how much remains to be done. The two living rooms, the kitchen, and the master bedroom are more or less in order, but the rest of the house is still a jumble of misplaced furniture and unopened boxes. We need to buy furniture and fittings — towel bars, draperies, etc.

And my much-larger office needs shelving. We left behind a lot of built-in shelving, and we need to install something here to replace it. IKEA looms large in my future.

But we’re here, and functioning.

  1. Congrats. I have had a bad habit of moving every year or so, and I’ve gotten quite tired of that. My wife and I hope our most recent move (to Montgomery Village…) will be our last for a while, but even when you move every year and don’t have time to collect 22 years of stuff it’s still a bit of a pain…

Congratulations anyway, if you’ve only moved 20 miles or so I expect we’re still neighbors in the greater sense.

And interestingly enough I took a break from reading my new copy of “Night of Madness” which I ordered from some store in British Columbia via Barnes and Noble to read about your successful move.

  2. We made some serious progress settling in today — got the upstairs hallway bookcase squared away, the kids’ rooms are much better now, and I’ve got the first chunk of my office in place.

Right now there’s a guy in the kitchen installing cabinet hardware.

Montgomery Village, huh? We were a lot closer before we moved, but it’s still in the general area.

  3. Just moved out here from Bethesda. I was worried because I’ve always lived close to a city, but I like the slower pace and landscaped lawns out here.
