I am currently without a major publisher, and am instead working with a couple of small presses, as well as self-publishing a few things under the name Misenchanted Press. I'm still hoping to get back into mainstream publishing, though.
This can get complicated, and schedules can change, but as of today, Monday, August 8, 2011, here's what's coming up:
- The Unwelcome Warlock (formerly known as The Final Calling), the eleventh Ethshar novel, describing the end of warlockry as we know it, is under contract to Wildside Press. An advance edition for people who contributed to the online serial is scheduled for September, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's delayed into October. The regular edition should be available around February of 2012.
- The Anthology from Hell: Humorous Tales from WAY Down Under, edited by Julia Mandala, is scheduled for February 2012 from Yard Dog Press, and contains my story "Hell for Leather."
- One-Eyed Jack, an urban fantasy novel, is currently out to market. If it doesn't sell to a major publisher soon, though, I'll be taking it to the small press, or possibly serializing it online. It's intended to be first in a series starring Gregory Kraft, a young man who can see ghosts.
- Vika's Avenger is a science-fantasy novel in the same situation as One-Eyed Jack. It's set 12,000 years in the future, in a city called Ragbaan on an extrasolar planet where civilization has collapsed and been rebuilt several times. The protagonist, Tulzik Ambroz, is pursuing the man who murdered his sister Vika. Also might be first in a series.
Nothing else is definite, but I'm considering several small themed short-story collections (e.g., Unicornucopia & Other Stories of Horns and Hooves). As demonstrated with In the Blood
, I can put those out quickly, should the whim strike me.
